Artist Statement

Get This Feeling Out (GTFO) is a seventeen-piece visual series that documents the experience of carrying feelings that have nowhere to go.

Created over the course of three months, the series began as a personal response to a situation defined by uncertainty, timing, distance, and restraint. Rather than serving as a portrait of another person, GTFO focuses on the emotional landscape created by those circumstances.

The works are rooted in real experiences, notes and conversations, but they do not seek to define, judge, or characterize the individual who inspired them. Instead, they examine the artist's own internal responses to those experiences. Each piece functions as a visual record of a specific emotional state, capturing moments that are often felt intensely but rarely expressed openly.

Throughout the series, recurring symbols, locations, objects, and references appear as fragments of memory. These elements are not presented as objective truth, but as evidence of how emotion shapes perception and meaning. Together, they form a narrative that follows the progression from infatuation and uncertainty toward reflection and acceptance.

At its core, GTFO is not a story about obtaining love, losing love, or being loved in return. It is a story about learning how to carry feelings responsibly when they cannot be resolved in the way one hopes. The series explores the tension between expression and restraint, asking what happens when art becomes the place where emotions are processed rather than acted upon.

Ultimately, GTFO serves as both a personal archive and a universal reflection on longing, demonstrating how creative practice can transform private experiences into opportunities for understanding, self-examination, and connection.
